Calcul Québec Welcomes the Buget Presented by the Government of Québec
Montréal, February 21th, 2014 — Calcul Québec is pleased to see the Politique nationale de la recherche et de l’innovation (PNRI) at the center of the budget presented by Finance Minister Nicolas Marceau for 2014-2015. « We salute this government’s budget for relying notably on the Politique nationale de la recherche et de l’innovation to insure Québec’s prosperity in a world economy increasingly based on knowledge, information technology know-how in general, and advanced computing know-how in particular. » explains Marc Parizeau, Scientific Director of Calcul Québec.
The PNRI, published last October, features a 25% increase in base funding for Les Fonds de recherche du Québec, as well as increased support for major research platforms such as Calcul Québec. The budget documents presented yesterday also reiterated that one of the goals of the Politique économique Priorité emploi — wich emcompasses the PNRI — is to reach research and development investment levels above 3% of the GDP.
