Spring School 2026: A New Artificial Intelligence Training Program

For its 11th edition, Calcul Québec’s Spring School welcomes you from June 2 to 5, 2026, on the campus of Bishop’s University with something new. This year, one of our two programs will be entirely dedicated to artificial intelligence, offered in partnership with the Institut intelligence et données (IID).
« Artificial intelligence is opening up new possibilities across all fields of research. It was therefore essential for Calcul Québec to respond to this growing need. To develop this new program, our team is collaborating with Pierre Gravel, data scientist at the IID at Université Laval. His expertise in machine learning is valuable. »
Caroline Baril Ph.D, Training Coordinator at Calcul Québec
Two Programs, One Shared Goal
The Spring School gives about 50 people working in the research community the opportunity to develop digital skills for a few days each year. Coming from academia, the nonprofit sector, or the private sector, they come together to gain practical knowledge and receive advice that they can apply to their own projects. This intensive training also provides an opportunity to build connections with people from different fields.
This year, Calcul Québec is offering hands-on workshops across two topics:
- Program #1 — Introduction to Python, Linux, and Supercomputers: This program, which has no prerequisites, will give you a solid foundation in Python programming and familiarize you with using a supercomputer running Linux.
- Program #2 — Machine Learning for Research (new): If you have a strong knowledge of Python, you’ll learn how to train machine learning models using various datasets. A brand-new addition reflecting the rapid evolution of research practices.
Four Days to Go Further
All workshops are offered in French. Our bilingual analysts are also available to answer questions in English. To make participation as easy as possible, all-inclusive packages are available, with accommodation and meals on campus.
Be sure to register by April 20 to take advantage of a early-bird rate. Full details and registration information for the Spring School are available on Eventbrite.
